Fitness has no Finish Line!
President John F. Kennedy said “physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body, it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity.” Hippocrates even wrote about it in 400 B.C. about the importance of exercise, “eating alone will not keep a man well; he must also take exercise.” It’s no secret that physical activity is good for more than just the body, it’s great for the mind and soul!

Unlike a sprint, or a marathon however, it is not a race! Fitness has no finish line, it’s a never ending process. In my personal experience, I have found setting the boundaries and creating a finish line spells disaster for complete lifestyle change! Trust me I know this, I’ve lived it, I’ve watched others do the very same thing. It may be an event that is one year away, 6 months or 3 months and no matter what, once the goal is hit, there is no plan to continue on and the plan fails. Lose weight, tone up etcetera, that special event arrived and boom 8 months later the inches and the weight have creeped back on and 2 years later the same vicious cycle is back! It’s easier to buy bigger clothes and have a shopping spree than hit the gym! Again, I know this all too well, I’ve lived it! Once I completed my triathlon I felt I needed a month off from 2 years of training and losing 135lbs, then it was 2 months then I let my membership lapse, I found an excuse every time! The gym location moved, I didn’t want to drive the extra 2 miles, or it’s too busy, I don’t like the remodel job or staff! They were simply excuses, I had lost sight of my original goal, and that was to get into shape, to save my life!
