My friend Dave had just lost a leg due to complications from diabetes, he also had several other issues as a result as well. He was doing great in losing weight, staying focused, positive and looking forward to our venture. Seven weeks into my weight loss, I was saddened with the news, that he had suffered a heart attack and died in his sleep. I was 45 pounds into my weight loss, and suddenly a longtime friend and motivator was gone, just like that! Long story short, it was a wake-up call to just how serious I needed to be. I had lost my weight with simple changes in diet and an at home exercise plan. I now realized how important setting goals would be.to achieve more and be healthier. I was just 2 years from my 40th birthday and I was determined to be fit at 40 in fact more fit than I’d ever been in my life that was my goal. I also become involved with the American Diabetes Association, to learn more, and help others through volunteering and fundraising. The first event I participated in was the Kiss A Pig, works much like a political campaign with dollars for votes, much like a Chicago election. I won the contest for Kokomo, and was invited to be a guest with other winners from around the state of Indiana, to be recognized at an Indiana Pacers game during the halftime festivities. Such an honor, and a load of fun as well. To anyone who participates I highly suggest in going first, as the pig is enticed to kiss you with a dog treat, after just a few treats, there is a frothy mix that forms around the mouth and it leaves a really nasty residue. I’m sure glad I went first as, the grand winner went last and was left with quite a beard of slobber! As part of my goal, I chose to participate in a triathlon, a mini one, yet still needing to accomplish a ½ mile swim, 35 mile bike ride and a 3.5 mile run, I hate running almost as much as a root canal! However without the goal, there really was nothing to shoot for other than just working out, this gave me the destination, and now the journey was building. It was some journey let me tell you, as training varied in many ways, using a few personal trainers to accomplish strength and endurance I thoroughly enjoyed my journey. More on the training soon (to be continued)

Candoit2.com is my journey from fit to fat to fit again, and again. I’ve had 8 years to look back on how I let myself fall from the fitness wagon, this has given me time to figure out where, and how I went wrong, and how I can do better this time. I know that I’m not the only person who’s ever struggled, this time I want to help others get back on track or simply start. January 9th, 2015 I officially committed to get fit, since then I’ve dropped 31 pounds and I’ve passed my International Sports Sciences Association Certified Fitness Trainer exam, and will be offering personal training services and more soon. Lots information and assistance will be coming to this site as well, progress photos, tips, recipes and family fit ideas as well. Be sure to subscribe and be the first to get the updates.
